Description
Soil and water both are essential natural resources for livelihood and agricultural production. Both natural resources represent the human civilization because these support the plants which provide nutrition to mankind and their livestock’s. Conservation of such type of natural resources for livelihood security would be the foremost challenge of the 21st century, particularly in arid and semi-arid tropics. If mitigation measures are not implemented, 40% of India’s population will have no access to drinking water by 2030 and would face a 6% loss in its gross domestic production (GDP) by 2050 (NITI Aayog, 2018). Under such circumstances, this practical manual are designed for landscaping interventions to conserve these natural resources through in-situ and ex-situ practices. Conservation of these natural resources focused on groundwater recharge and enhancing agricultural productivity for socio-economic development (Joshi, et al., 2004; 2006; Pati, 2019). Due to the increasing demand of natural resources such as soil and water, management of these resources at a watershed scale has become one of the important strategies for attaining a sustainable environment (Hema et al., 2021). In keeping all these factors this practical manual are designed as per best of my knowledge for better services.
