Description
The Centre for Medical Entomology and Vector management which maintain a reference collection of preserved specimens of arthropods of medical importance to facilitate identification of the collected material. Mosquitoes are approximately 3,600 species of small flies comprising the family Culicidae. Mosquitoes have slender segmented body, one pair of wings, one pair of halteres, three pairs of long hair-like legs, and elongated mouthparts. The need of identification of such mosquitoes / specimen is very essential because some of the mosquito species are the vectors of important tropical and sub-tropical diseases. This paper provides a detailed inventory of the permanent mounted microslides preserved in the entomological museum.
