Description
This handbook is the result of 3 years of collaborative work between the Medical Simulation Centre (MSC) and the MBBS undergraduate teaching departments. Each chapter was contributed by the respective department and given its final shape by the MSC. The handbook is meant to be a pocket guide for procedural skills for both the students as well as faculty to ensure a uniform method for teaching these skills. Each skill is described in detail, with figures where required for clarity, including the underlying theory, indications, contraindications and the assessment checklist. It is hoped that this handbook will serve as a useful guide to follow the National Medical Commission curricular requirements for procedural skills, even though it goes beyond these requirements by including many more skills which we felt were needed for the basic medical graduate.
