Travel medicine or emporiatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the prevention and management of health problems of international travellers. Major content areas of travel medicine include the global epidemiology of health risks to the traveller, vaccinology, malaria prevention, and pre-travel counselling designed to maintain the health of the international travellers.
The aim of this book was to review the literature available pertaining to travel medicine, travel associated illnesses, the prevention and the management of health problems of international travellers pertaining to travel medicine and the need for the development of policies and programmes that will prevent needless sufferings in travellers which in turn will enhance better international trade and tourist.
